I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was two years old, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. We lived in New Jersey, but after some missteps at a hospital in New Jersey, I was brought there. College and graduate school were in New York and I currently live in the greater Boston area with my husband 2 cats and beta fish. I work full time and an active volunteer in the diabetes community.
A few years ago I jokingly called myself dinobetic, a cheeky way to say I've had it for a long time. The name stuck and I'm excited to launch this site. - Phyllis Kaplan
